Introduction:

Armed Forces Medical Stores Depot was established on 7th Dec 1951 initially at Nowshera, Pakistan and was named as Eastern Medical Stores Depot for supporting with medical stores/equipment to the then East Pakistan defense personnel. In 1952 the depot was re-located to Chittagong Cantonment. After the glorious birth of Bangladesh in 1971 it was again shifted to the present location from Chittagong Cantonment. Since 05th February 1972 this organization is rendering the medical support with its fullest capability to Army, Navy, Air Force & UN mission by supplying medical stores/equipment under the control of DGMS.

FUNCTIONS:

i) To receive the stocks of medical stores and equipment (including Electro-medical equipment) from the local market and abroad through Directorate General of Medical Services of Bangladesh.

ii)To hold all types of medical stores.

iii) To supply Medical Stores and Equipment to all units of Army, Navy and Air Force in Bangladesh and UN mission through DGMS.

iv) To supply Veterinary Medical Stores to all Military Farms.

v)To arrange assembling, repairing and testing of medical/electro-medical equipment.
