Introduction:

Armed Forces Medical Institute (AFMI) is the premier educational institute of the Army Medical Corps. Immediately after liberation in 1971 to cope with the expansion of Armed Forces and to ensure efficient medical support at all level, it was felt necessary to establish an institute for imparting training to Army Medical Corps, Army Dental Corps and Armed Forces Nursing Services officers and other paramedics on various professional matters. It came into being on 02 January 1976.

FUNCTIONS:

  1. Conducting all sorts of professional training to Army Medical Corps/Army Dental Corps and AFNS offs and nursing training to Armed Forces Nursing Service cadets.
  2. Conducting technical trade training to sanitary assistant class III, II & I, medical assistant class I and pharmacy training to dispensers.
  3. Conducting disease study, experimental trial on efficacy of drugs and professional research wks.
